The excitement began as guests, donning their most "Super Hero Chic" attire, arrived on the green carpet at the Tabernacle for the 14th Annual X-MAS Party to Save the Planet. On hand to welcome them were the greatest collection of superheroes, including Captain Planet creator Ted Turner, Captain Planet Foundation Chairperson, Laura Turner Seydel, Event Co-Chairs Rutherford Seydel, Rick Baker and Sacha Taylor. All worked tirelessly to produce “Superheroes for Earth,” an event celebrating the fact that each of us, in our own ways, can be Superheroes for Earth by protecting our very fragile environment and natural resources.

The venue was transformed into an organic garden oasis in the middle of winter thanks to April Milliken Trigg and Eventologie. Partygoers were wowed by a show produced by Randi Layne's Catwalk Productions, featuring fabulously eco-chic fashions designed by the talented students of Bauder College. After greetings from the evenings special guests Ludacris and Jayni and Chevy Chase and a spirited live auction, revelers danced the night away to the tunes of Chuck Leavell of the Rolling Stones, Jack Blades of Night Ranger & Damn Yankees, Jeff Carlisi of .38 Special, Wally Palmar of The Romantics and two local bands, Band X and Soul Stash. What we want to know is who taught Rutherford to dance like that? Holy break-dance Batman!
